I needed wireless headphones for two reasons: 1) To not disturb my partner since I stay up late and 2) I was tired of being tethered to and tripping over cords. My research discovered two types of transmitters - RF (radio frequency) and infrared. The main difference being RF has more range and can broadcast through solid objects (like walls) and infrared can't (remote controls use infrared).

After looking at approximately a dozen wireless headphones I decided on the Sennheiser Rs110 because I wanted headphones with some sound quality so I could listen to music and Sennheiser is a quality brand (I have one of their wireless guitar transmitters).

The Rs100 were a snap to setup. Plug in the AC adapter for the transmitter then install the supplied AAA batteries in the headphones (accomplished by removing one of the ear pads) and plug the source cord into the headphone output on my receiver (they can be plugged into other audio outputs). The headphones come with adapters for different sized plugs.

There are three controls conveniently located on the headphones themselves: on/off, volume and channel fine tuning. The Rs110 has three channels (so it doesn't interfere with another wireless device in range). Once plugged in the transmitter automatically comes on when there's an audio signal. In other words, if you turn your TV (or whatever) off the transmitter will automatically shut-off and vice-versa - a nice feature.

The headphones themselves are a bit heavy, but comfortable. I wear glasses and found after an hour or two of listening the pressure on them made my head hurt, but was relieved by taking the headphones off for a few minutes (I wanted the larger headphones because you can't get the same sound quality from the lightweight Walkman-type headphones). I found I was messing with the headphone controls when putting on and taking off the headphones since they're where your hands naturally go to, so I now grab them by the head strap. I have some high frequency hearing loss, but not enough to require hearing aids. I purchased this set primarily to enable me to hear clearly the sound from our flat panel TV. They have far exceeded my expectations. The frequency response from high to mid-range to lows is excellent. After doing quite a bit of research on wireless headphones, the products seemed to fall into two categories...really expensive ($70 and up) and really cheap ($30 and down.) I've purchased the cheap ones before such as the RCAs (which were uncomfortable and made your ears itchy only after half an hour of using them) but surely didn't want to fork out a hundred bucks or more for the upper stratosphere wireless sets.

Enter the Sennheiser RS110. A cheaper version of the RS120. The difference is in the on board chargeable feature for the headphones on the 120. Not really worth the extra expense in my opinion as popping out the batteries for a fresh pair of rechargeables with the RS110 only takes a few seconds.

Ok, onto the specifics. Although $60 is still pretty expensive, what you're getting with the RS110 pretty much justifies the price. The sound from these headphones is quite good with nice bass, good highs, although the mids are just a bit overdone. The wireless feature is good and the transmitter automatically locks onto your headset when it powers on. RCA jacks are at your disposal to connect to your sound source whether it is your TV, DVD player, or stereo. A flick of the on button, adjustment for the signal, set your volume and you are good to go.

I bought the earphones for DVD movies, watching TV and playing video games at night. The RS110 is a lifesaver for letting me turn up the volume without disturbing anyone else in the house...especially since I am a bit of a night-owl on occasion. But since the sound is pretty good, sometimes I opt to use them even during normal viewing times as well.

The wireless feature is nice, but if you tilt your head or move the headphones around in a specific position, you'll get a bit of static. In really quiet instances while viewing TV, movies or music, a bit of hiss comes through, but 90 percent of the time,whatever you're listening to will drown out this low level hiss. These headphones are really comfortable because the foam padding sits flat against the outside of your ears instead of encasing them in a "cup" which makes your ears sweaty and itchy. You can leave these on for hours without getting the itchy ear syndrome. The signal picks up pretty well around the house too, so listening to music is pretty good for going wireless.

The thing with the transmitter is that you have to unplug it from whatever device you want to switch it to, so this is a bit of a hassle if you want to switch from your HD TV to your stereo for instance.

Ok, let me get this out of the way; The auto-off feature is extremely annoying. What is it? It turns the transmitter ( NOT the headphones) off after a short amount of time. The problem is, it has to actually pick up enough noise before it starts transmitting again. It just doesn't work as well as an on/off switch.

The lack of auto-off on the headphones is almost as bad. It's my own fault, but I left them on multiple times overnight and the battery was completely drained.

I did a lot of research before buying these RS110 wireless headphones and I am generally satisfied with them. The audio quality is much better than my old RCA wireless headphones (WHP-150). The range is only slightly better than the RCA headphones (about 50 feet through 3 interior walls).

My only complaint with the RS110 is that it is too easy to leave the power on when you are done using them since there is no power indication LED (light). Since this uses AAA batteries, then the batteries will be depleted. I recently started using rechargeable AAA batteries, but I have to take them out to charge them which is less convenient. That seems to be a good workaround if you leave them on accidentally.

Over the last couple years it seems like I'm always turning the volume on the TV up louder than everyone else in the house likes it. It sure is great when you have to get up to use the rest room during a movie or go to the frig to get something to eat. You don't miss a beat.

The other nice thing is that you can turn the volume way down on the TV and turn it up on the headphones so you don't disturb other people in the house who are sleeping. (You can't turn the volume completely off on the TV) If family members are watching with you, you can adjust the headphone volume up or down depending on how loud they have the TV. Sennheiser also carries a few other models of similar type headphones like these Sennheiser RS140 Wireless Headphones and Sennheiser RS 130 Wireless Surround Sound Headphones but for my purposes of watching TV mainly, I think these do everything I need them to do. Last night I listened to music on one of the TV satellite stations and was very impressed with the sound on these headphones. Earlier, during a TV show where there was lots of activity, it sounded like I was listening to surround sound with the sound going from right to left and other sounds behind me in the background. I thought that was pretty impressive for entry level headphones.

I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone who has had trouble hearing the TV, stereo or other device.

I purchased this intending to use with my computer. The headphones had a loud hum no matter which frequency I selected and even after moving the base as far away as possible. The headphones even had this hum when they weren't plugged into the headphone jack. I don't know if they just don't work with computers. I never thought to try it out on my stereo.

Aside from the problem. The headphones themselves seam cheaply made. The plastic base is very light weight, as are the headphones. Light weight can be good for comfort but the unit just doesn't have a sturdy feel to it. For example I replaced these with a $15 TeknMotion model (not wireless though) My $15 headphone with mic has a sturdier feel and look to it than the Sennheiser model. The cable on the TekMotion is twice as thick. I think part of the interference problem with the Sennheiser may be a result of the cable insulation being too thin.

Also the power cable and the cable that runs from the base to the headset are right next to each other as they come out of the base. This design might be prone to interference from the power source, especially with the wire insulation being so thin.

Since this product was unusable I can't give it anymore than 2 stars.

I bought two sets - one for use with the treadmill and one for the big family room TV. I am
hard of hearing and the ear bud headphones are too uncomfortable for me to wear.
The only complaint I have about this set is that there is sound spillover from the headphones - especially in the treble ranges - even when you put the TV on mute. It's annoying but tolerable considering the overall performance. And the price is terrific. I paid $300 for the ear bud headphones and it was truly wasted money. These wireless headphones are darn near the "junk" cateogry. They do work a little bit but not very well. Would have been great 30 years ago. These are possibly defective. The box looked great. The instructions were fine. The power supply plug was a bit difficult to insert and difficult to manipulate. I could tune in 1 channel just fine, but it it was impossible to get enough amplitude when I tuned in both ears. I will try a different brand next time.
